Navy Week 2007 Public Events Announced
The United States Navy will conduct a week-long series
of events August 20 – 26 throughout the Indianapolis area
celebrating the partnership between the Navy and Hoosiers.
This week-long celebration brings together active and
reserve duty Sailors, who live, work and serve alongside
Hoosiers every day.

Navy Week Sets Sail in Indianapolis
INDIANAPOLIS (NNS) -- Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman set the
proverbial sail Aug. 20 for this year’s Indianapolis Navy
Week, presenting the official proclamation to Navy
representative Rear Adm. Gerald R. Beaman, Commander, Strike

Sailors Clean
Up for Indianapolis Habitat
INDIANAPOLIS – Braving a 109-degree heat index, 12 Sailors
from several Indianapolis recruiting stations and from the
Navy Operational Support Center teamed up Wednesday Aug. 22
to organize and clean up the Indianapolis Habitat for
Humanity’s main distribution warehouse.
According to the activity’s organizer, Navy Counselor 1st
Class Patrick Drabick, a recruiter from Navy Recruiting
Station (NRS) Washington Point, Ind., the Sailors’ efforts
coincide with a program he initiated a year ago.

Hails Navy Recruiting
INDIANAPOLIS – U.S. Navy Commander Gregory Maguire spoke to
civic groups, including the Indianapolis and Greenfield
Sunrise Rotary Clubs during Indianapolis Navy Week 2007.
After the recent Indianapolis Navy Week proclamation
announced by Indiana’s Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman, Sailors were
welcomed into the greater metropolitan areas to share
experiences about their Navy heritage.

US Navy Blue Angels Host Media Availabilities
INDIANAPOLIS – The U.S. Navy Blue Angels Flight
Demonstration team will host a series of media
availabilities during Indianapolis Navy Week leading up to
the Indianapolis Air Show. Media availabilities will provide
local media with opportunities to interact at various levels
with the Blue Angels.

INDIANAPOLIS – Tuesday Aug. 21 during the Indianapolis Navy
Week events.
A native Hoosier from Hammond, Ind., Admiral Beaman is
Commander, Strike Force Training Pacific. He returned to
Indiana to kick off the week-long celebration including this

The U.S. Navy Band Great
Lakes Horizon group will perform a free concert during
the Indianapolis Public School’s Back-to-School Bash at
Julian Coleman Middle School as part of the Indianapolis
Navy Week.
The Back-to-School Bash
begins Thursday Aug. 23 at 4:30 p.m. and runs through
9:00 p.m. celebrating the beginning of the new school

Navy Week Opening Ceremonies at War Memorial
INDIANAPOLIS – The Navy Club of
Indianapolis will sponsor a special reception and
opening ceremony for the Indianapolis Navy Week at the
Indiana War Memorial as part, Monday Aug. 20. The
reception will be held in conjunction with the permanent
opening of the USS Indianapolis Museum and the opening
ceremonies for Navy Week hosted by the Navy Club of
Indianapolis.

hand to welcome the visitors to the reception as well as
